prepping YOung(er) kids for session

• Tell your kids about the photo session well ahead of time. Tell them what to expect. Let them know how much you're looking forward to it and why your family is doing it. If you're excited, they'll definitely catch your enthusiasm!
• Make sure you are well prepared for the photoshoot day. Make sure to bring along extra diapers, wipes, special toy, or treat bag such as cheerios or baby puffs.
• Let them be involved. Include your children in the planning process. Ask them what styles the family should wear. Help them pick out an outfit with your guidance. When children feel involved, they're much more willing to participate. And if all else fails, remember the saying..MOTHER KNOWS BEST!
• Is every session perfect? Absolutely not. Meltdowns happen to everyone! I make sure to give breaks when needed for little ones. The less pressure we put on little ones and ourselves, the more fun we all have! I always try to keep every session light hearted, casual, and upbeat. Lets have fun!
• At the end of the day, my wish is that you, your children and grandchildren ADORE these photos forever.

My photography style is very timeless and soft. I feel keeping clothes neutral helps achieve this look and style. Below I have color combo suggestions. Whatever color combo you choose, I always suggest having a cream somewhere in the mix. A variety of textures, and subtle patterns help give the photos dimension. Neutral/dressy-casual shoes are always the best. Ladies, be comfortable in your shoes. If your shoes add too much height next to your spouse it can effect the posing. WARDROBE TIPS

Moms- I focus everyone's outfit based off of yours. Once we know what you are wearing, we figure out the rest of the family. I love mom's in dresses, it really helps create that timeless look. I highly recommend maxi's for mama's! The floor length flatters, and when a little breeze flutters by it helps create motion in the photos.

If it's cold outside, I recommend bundling up and layering. When it comes to dressing the guys, keep it simple! Khaki/ tan pants, or a muted chino colored pant/short with a light colored button up shirt with and brown shoes are perfect.

PLEASE AVOID

Transitional Lenses, Spray tans, Heavy eyeliner and eyeshadow, and bright colored nail polish. Please try and keep polish to natural, soft cream, or soft neutrals. Sometimes darker shades of pink and red work well, depending on the season. I try to avoid loud colors, just because they can be distracting.

Transitional lenses look like sunglasses. Spray tans can throw off the natural skin tones and too much eye makeup can make ones eyes appear dark. We want bright, sparkly eyes!
